This is a site dedicated to the memory of Joshua D. McCandless and commemorating his life. Josh was a nurse, father, son, brother, and friend. He lived his life thoroughly and with joy. The Joshua D. McCandless Endowed Nursing Scholarship is being established at State Fair Community College, Sedalia, MO. Josh always had the #1 on any sports uniforms he wore; therefore, the #1 honors him as well as signifies that he is #1 in our hearts and minds and that he always strived to be #1 at everything he undertook.

When some of Joshua’s nursing colleagues spoke with Carol and I about starting a Joshua D. McCandless Nursing Scholarship we were deeply touched. For Joshua, nursing was not just a vocation it was his professional passion. He loved helping people and being in a position which could save and change individual lives. As he financially struggled to meet his educational expenses while trying to raise a family, I believe he would be proud to have an endowment that would help individuals achieve their nursing goals through the help of a scholarship. There are many committed to seeing this scholarship established in the fall of 2011, and with your help, we will be able to make this scholarship a permanent endowment for the nursing program at State Fair Community College for generations to come.
